I was eating lunch outside the office building where I work this week. It was a beautiful day with relatively few people close by (relatively few for Chicago anyway). No trees or much in the way of greenery nearby but it was a great time of peaceful reflection. Suddenly, from out of nowhere it seemed, six sparrows descended to the cement before me. I was immediately reminded of one of my favorite passages from the Bible.
We have a saying at our house, “Sometimes God just hands you one.” You see, I was instantly put at peace when I thought of how much God had provided in my life recently. He has consistently provided throughout my life, but the sparrows in front of me were a visual reminder that He provides for them abundantly and that humans are even more precious than they. It was as though God were saying directly to me, “I have not forgotten you. It’s going to be okay.”
God is so good! Never forget that when things become difficult in life (no matter what it is for you), God has not forgotten you. You are much more precious than sparrows.
